The musical chairs at the front did a lot to make sure nobody got away, and if it wasn’t for the infighting from 7th on back, the top six -that also includedAlexander Bermudez and Jose da Silva- may have never been able to do just that. Still, with about ten to go the lead pack was now just six, their near 2-second advantage helped by their decision to quit battling for a handful of laps with Nagao at the helm. That all changed on lap 10 when things went three wide in the Long Beach corner, busting up the harmony amongst the front six, and with it, shaking up the order behind the leader. While it was still Nagao out front, the trailing quintet was flipped on its head heading into the final five laps, with the former front row starters now at the tail of the top six. Nagao would first come under fire from Fite, losing the lead and dropping to third on lap 13, with Alexander Bermudez following Fite through. But the man on the move was Da Silva; having already clocked the fastest lap, he made the move for the lead on the penultimate lap, holding on for his third career Super Series victory and first of 2018. Bermudez would slot in for second -his first ever podium- while Nagao settled for third after leading the most laps. Sportsman Points 1. Rodney Bryant 875 2. Sam Hunt 865 3. Scott Milne 849 4.
