CalSpeed IronMan Series 2020 Round 8 Preview

Here we are at the 2020 season Finale for the CalSpeed IronMan Series, but the champion has already been decided… last month saw the one and only 2-Hour event on the schedule take place, and for the first time in 5 runnings it was not a solo driver on the top step. Point leader going in, Sean Fite elected to pick up a teammate, and it was he and Bill Kreig bringing home the win, and for Fite, it was a enough to claim his first IronMan Series Championship. The Brazilian duo of Paulo Franca and Jose da Silva would once again teammate to claim second, while a pair of new faces claimed the final spot of the podium with Chase Nickells and Seth willits bringing home the hardware for third.

And while the title may be in the books, the final two hardware spots are still up for grabs, with a total of 5 drivers still with a mathematical shot going in… we’ll talk about that more in a moment, as well as a couple of wildcards that could make the quest for those valuable points a little more interesting…

But it is the last race of the year for the IronMan Series, and again a last prep session for Machismo the looms just about 6 weeks away. Tecnico is a great place to hone your skills for that once around the clock contest, which is exactly the goal for those not in the immediate hardware fight.

It is expected to be a chilly, and possibly even a little misty morning on Saturday, adding to an already fun challenge that is Tecnico. Speaking of, let’s jump into our Track Focus for the season finale…
